Our Lady of Grace Church has been a tithing parish since 1988. As a tithing parish, we take 4% of our regular Sunday collections and distribute to those in need both at home and around the world. In so doing, we are sharing some of our blessings with those less fortunate.
Some of the organizations that have benefited from tithing awards in the past and continue to benefit include St. Vincent de Paul Center, Noblesville; St. Paul Church, McKee, Kentucky; Birthright of Cicero; Third Phase, Inc., Noblesville; Habitat For Humanity, Hamilton County; St. Rita’s Parish, Indianapolis, Blessed John XXIII Retreat Center; Ecuador Mission Fund; Auxier Lifetime Learning Center in Kentucky; our parish Haitian Outreach, just to name a few. Since the year 2000, over fifty different recipients have been awarded financial tithing assistance.
If you are interested in volunteering to serve on the tithing committee, you may express that interest by e-mailing the above address at the parish or any of the tithing committee members listed on the OLG website. The tithing committee is always looking for parishioners who are interested and willing to serve. The committee meets four times annually to decide on the distribution of the parish tithing funds. The meetings are held the third Tuesday following the end of each quarter, which would be in January, April, July, and October. We hope to hear from you.
As a tithing parish, we elect to give 4% of our regular Sunday collections to causes requested by our parishioners. We will disburse this money on a weekly basis.
Any member of the parish may submit a tithing request. A tithing request form is available on the bulletin board or through the parish office. The form may be put in the tithing mail file in the workroom or dropped off to the parish office. In addition, the request form is available on the OLG website and may be sent to any of the tithing committee members’ email addresses listed on the website.
We will adhere to the following guidelines:
We will tithe 4% of our regular Sunday collections.
We will tithe to a sister parish. This could be a local parish or a parish in another country. We will set a ceiling at $4000 annual for each parish.Preferential consideration will be given to Our Lady Of Grace, long and short term ministries.
If a parishioner prefers his contribution to the church not be included in the tithe, he/she may write “Do Not Tithe” on his collection envelope or check and the request will be honored.
None of the tithes will go to individuals.
Tithing should not be according to religious affiliation.
The tithing committee will be made up of at least three parish members.
The tithing committee will list in the Parish Bulletin on a weekly basis the tithe and the recipients for the current and upcoming weeks.
The tithing committee will report to the parish a quarterly statement and an annual statement of what the parish tithed by recipient.
How to Submit a Tithing Suggestion
As a tithing parish, we elect to share a percentage of our regular Sunday collection to causes requested by our parishioners. Any members of Our Lady of Grace may submit a request by completing a Tithing Suggestion Sharing Request Form.
If you know of a charitable organization or cause that would benefit from financial assistance, we invite you to submit your request to the tithing committee by accurately completing a Tithing Suggestion Sharing Request Form and returning it through the Sunday collection or sending it to the parish office.
We welcome any ideas or suggestions for possible tithing recipients. All requests submitted by parishioners will be carefully considered at the next quarterly tithing committee meeting. Any parishioner who submits a Sharing Request Form will be notified if their suggestion meets the tithing criteria as outlined in the tithing guidelines and is selected as a recipient. The tithing recipients are published weekly in the parish bulletin.
You may also email your requests to any of the following tithing committee members. Please note that the email address are not links and that there are additional spaces before the @ sign. You will need to manually type in the email address on your email form.
