Our Lady of Grace is seeking a full-time Coordinator of Music and Liturgy. This position facilitates parishioners’ encounter with God at the celebration of Mass and other liturgies by careful preparation of music, choirs, liturgical needs, liturgical ministers, and the adornment of the sanctuary. The Coordinator’s goal is to help foster a love and discovery of beauty, reverence, sacredness, and joy in the celebration of the Church’s liturgy––a goal which is accomplished most effectively through building parishioner engagement and participation at liturgical celebrations.
Some of the Music responsibilities include: The selection and coordination of music for weekend Masses and Holy Days of Obligation; Coordinating Church Choirs; Assist the school Music teacher for school liturgical events and celebrations and coordinate other special liturgies and celebrations (e.g. RCIA Rites/Scrutinies, Corpus Christi procession, Advent Lessons/Carols, etc.)
Some of the Liturgy responsibilities include: schedule liturgical ministers; the training of liturgical ministers and recruit new ministers, as needed; create worship aids (Triduum, Confirmation, 1st Communions, et al.), and order Liturgical supplies.
This position requires: a music degree and/or experience; knowledge of the church’s documents on liturgy and music; proficient piano/organ skills; knowledge of Church sound systems and the coordinator to be a practicing Catholic.
